As requested by the meeting, an acknowledgement will be made in this blog to thank all residents who pay for the security service. We will also be making updates and explanation on why the fees has to be increased next year. Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera ,

Kepada semua penduduk/penyewa taman perumahan USJ 18. Bagi pihak Pemangku Pengerusi,En.Leong Chi Wei, dan seluruh  AJK PP USJ 18, saya ingin merakamkan ucapan ribuan terima kasih di atas kerjasama dan juga sokongan semua penduduk yang telah memberi sokongan yang padu kepada jawatankuasa PP USJ 18 semenjak diwujudkan.Sokongan dan kerjasama yang padu itu telah memberi kekuatan kepada AJK PP USJ 18 mewujudkan SUASANA yang SELAMAT yang dikecapi sehingga hari ini, sungguhpun ada beberapa kes kecil yang mencacatkan rekod keselamatan kita.

Saya bagi pihak jawatankuasa PP USJ18 ingin memaklumkan kepada semua penduduk bahawa Jawatankuasa telah membuat rumusan untuk memanggil satu perhimpunan untuk seluruh penduduk USJ18, pada 30 haribulan Oktober 2011, untuk mengambil ketetapan sama ada mengekalkan kontraktor kawalan keselamatan atau menamatkannya.Ini adalah kerana didapati peratusan(%)  bilangan penyumbang atau koleksi /yuran yang dibayar pada tahun 2011 oleh penduduk USJ 18 telah merosot dengan begitu ketara.

Kemerosotan dana ini menjurus kepada pendirian jawatankuasa untuk memanggil satu perhimpunan seluruh penduduk untuk kita sama-sama mengambil pendirian sama ada meneruskan atau membatalkan kawalan keselamatan tersebut.

Sungguhpun begitu, saya percaya majoriti penduduk akan bersetuju dan menyokong pendirian jawatankuasa bahawa kita perlu meneruskan khidmat kawalan keselamatan malah mencari jalan meningkatkan tahap kawalan tersebut dengan menambah beberapa lagi ciri-ciri keselamatan tersebut.Semua ini akan memerlukan tambahan kepada kos .

Jawatankuasa penduduk memerlukan sokongan padu yang berterusan dari semua lapisan penduduk USJ 18 untuk menjamin keharmonian,keselesaan dan ‘ketenangan malam’ warga USJ 18.

Semua ini akan dapat dicapai dengan kerjasa tuan-tuan dan puan-puan.

Saya juga amat berbesar hati sekiranya tuan-tuan dan puan -puan dapat memberi maklum balas yang positif, sama ada secara bertulis atau sms, atau e-mail kepada saya atau mana-mana AJK PP USJ18.

A meeting with all residents will be the LAST CALL to everyone to step forward to help us upkeep SECURITY.

Your attendance will be your vote of support & we will not be able to proceed if support (attendance) is less than 75%! Note that unless more residents pay up and volunteer to help us operate and manage security, please treat this  as a CONFIRMATION that our SECURITY SERVICE will STOP on 1 January 2012!

Slightly over 60% of our residents have paid up their security fees during our recent latest collection. The amount collected is sufficient to cover our expenses for only 4 months.

For your information, there has been 2 robberies recently, i.e. on 29/7 & 4/8. We need your support and cooperation to beef up security. And we cannot do that unless more residents pay up and improve our financial soon. Otherwise the committee will have to review our current security arrangement by either:

1. Reducing the number of guards, or
2.  Having security for only the night shift.

If this problem of non-payment persists , then the committee will have no choice but to consider the termination of the security company by the end of October 2011.

This would be a last option that we do not want to take. But without your support, we may have to. In the interim, the security guards have been instructed to pay particular attention to payees’ houses only. To facilitate this, the gate sticker will be re-introduced.

If you’ve paid up, thank you. If you haven’t, please make your cash or cheque payment (payable to Persatuan Penduduk USJ18) for the amount of RM300 to us soonest.

Please contact your respective street coordinators to make payment.

If you have any concerns regarding this development, this is the time to raise the matter with MPSJ.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians should participate in crime prevention activities, such as joining their neighbourhood watch, since crime is the biggest concern for them.

Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the results of a recent survey, which showed that crime was the top concern, should translate into greater public participation in fighting crime.

“This is a good sign because people are more conscious about their safety,” he said, adding they could get involved and work with the local police or take part in the MCPF’s activities.

Lee was commenting on a survey conducted in July by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) communications department, involving over 1,600 people.

The survey had asked respondents for their views on the current economic situation, business and employment opportunities in Malaysia, and major concerns.

Although crime remains the number one concern of Malaysians, the survey revealed that the concern about crime dropped to 21% this year from 33% in 2010.

Lee said the drop indicated that efforts by the police and non-governmental organisations had helped to lower the fear of crime among the people.

“Nevertheless, we should not be complacent. Combating crime requires cooperation from everyone.

“The police must step up its efforts and make known their success rate to the public,” he said, adding that the average success rate in solving crime was about 40%.

Lee said the police’s success rate in tackling crime should be highlighted by the media so that public perception towards them will improve.
